Introducing Fun of a Blonde, Brains of a Brunette

Fun of a Blonde, Brains of a Brunette... for women of all hair colors: This quote developed on it's own through living, learning, failing, and achieving. I have been writing on this topic in journals since I was 27 but have lived it since birth. This blog is in development just like all of our lives are. My intentions are that this blog enables us women to grow, learn, cry and laugh together; ultimately helping one another to live life having the fun of a blonde, but with the brains of a brunette.

Forever 24...

It is so funny to me, but then again I do seem to find most things pretty comical, but seriously why do we try to fight age?  It is not like we are trying to win a game of Scattergories or Scrabble, or win a fight against cancer, or that we are right in a disagreement with our spouse.  In all of these battles there is a chance you could take home the winning title.  But in the fight against age there is ZERO chance that you will defeat growing one year older.

Just a few years ago when I was in my 20’s, yea right, but when I was in my 20’s I remember my friends dreading their 30th.  Some went into deep dark depressions, some ate their way through it and gained some poundage, and some starved themselves in hopes of looking as if they were 24 again.

It’s not just my girlfriends that have the issue of age.  My very dear male friend took turning 30 to the next level.  My male best friend, I like to call him my MBF, booked a flight to Hawaii from California for his 30th birthday solely to stay 29 for an extra three hours.  With the time change from California to Hawaii my MBF was able to relish in an additional three hours of being in his 20’s.

Flash back to my 29th birthday.  It landed on a Sunday, Easter Sunday, and Motley Crue was playing at The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.  My girlfriends and I took a wild ride down to Vegas for the celebration of my last birthday in my 20’s.  That’s what I called it, not 29, but “my last birthday in my 20’s”.  So, we did not celebrate Easter.  We did not mourn my last year in my 20’s.  We celebrated the last year of being a stupid, crazy, dancing on the bar, young kid in Vegas by listening to a band of grown men older than me that will forever live like they are 24.

It’s Eddie Money who “wants to go back and do it all over”, It’s Rod Stewart’s first band, Faces, who “Wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger”.  I don’t want to go back and do it all over.  I don’t want to know then what I know now.  That takes away the excitement of life.  That takes away the ability to embrace every age and every moment. Yea, the wrinkles suck, and the metabolism changes have me out-growing my clothes, and I have to lift my arms up in the air to defy gravity on that certain body part which was once a great asset.  But, age comes with knowledge.  Knowledge leads you to knowing how to live the best life possible for you.  So the way I see it, we need more brains to know how to attain the fun in life.  So, every year older is a little closer to having the fun of a blonde with the brains of a brunette.  Twenty-four, thirty-four, forty-four, fifty-four; I wonder what fun I will be having “when I’m sixty-four”.
